Navigating client views on AI feels like walking a tightrope these days. In my work, Iโ€™ve spotted three main types, each with its own stance on gen-AI in content creation. Letโ€™s call them the Three Client Houses, with AI as the Big Bad Wolf testing their foundations!



๐—•๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—–๐—ž ๐—›๐—ข๐—จ๐—ฆ๐—˜: ๐—ญ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ข-๐—ง๐—ข๐—Ÿ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ก๐—–๐—˜ ๐—˜๐—ก๐—ง๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—˜๐—ฆ. These are the sturdy ones, built on strict rulesโ€”content must be purely human-made. These tend to be your blue-chip enterprise-level clients who need to play by the rules and cannot afford to use content with iffy IP. But with AI woven into tools like Adobe or Microsoft, can this hold true? Harvard Business Review notes enterprises are adding AI guardrails for compliance, yet some still demand zero AI traces to dodge risks. These are becoming a minority.ย 



๐—ช๐—ข๐—ข๐—— ๐—›๐—ข๐—จ๐—ฆ๐—˜: ๐—–๐—”๐—จ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ข๐—จ๐—ฆ ๐—”๐——๐—ข๐—ฃ๐—ง๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ. A solid middle groundโ€”AIโ€™s welcome for ideation, tweaks, or for some of the mid-project grunt work, but end results need bespoke work and/or using licensed stock. No grey areas here, just brand consistency to weather any storm.



๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ช ๐—›๐—ข๐—จ๐—ฆ๐—˜: ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—ž-๐—ง๐—”๐—ž๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ. Startups and small teams with lightweight setups whoโ€™d rather beg forgiveness later, much like meme marketingโ€™s IP abuses (e.g., brands repurposing viral memes, facing rare fines). Is gen-AI slop the new meme? Fortune says 9 in 10 freelancers see AI as positive, and these clients are inviting the AI Big Bad Wolf in for a cuppa.



๐—ง๐—œ๐—ฃ: Probe earlyโ€”ask about AI policies to tailor your pitch and strengthen their house. And periodically confirm that there hasnโ€™t been a change in policy, to avoid having your creative house blown away by the competition or by a misalignment with your client.
